Staying safe in Bundaberg

Before, during and after an emergency

Cyclones, floods, bushfires, extreme heat and severe storms can all happen in this region. Being ready before it happens keeps you, your housemates and your workplace safe.

Before an emergency

  • Save your employer's phone number
  • Save your Pastoral Care Officer's number
  • Know your accommodation address
  • Keep your passport & important documents together
  • Keep your mobile phone charged
  • Register for local emergency alerts
  • Learn how to use the Bundaberg Disaster Dashboard
  • Talk to your employer & housemates about the plan

During an emergency

  • Stay calm and keep yourself safe
  • Follow instructions from emergency services
  • Check the Bundaberg Disaster Dashboard for updates
  • Contact your employer or Pastoral Care Officer if it's safe to do so
  • Take your emergency kit and important documents
  • Never drive through floodwater
  • Evacuate immediately if instructed
  • Let someone know you are safe when you can
